I was wondering the other day, What does it take to be a good Instructor, then right after asking myself about that, my mind followed with this… Now, What does take to be a good student?… So I came up with all these 8 points.

But before digging into that, let’s define the word “Student”. I google it and this is what I found good for my personal understanding -and honesty I don’t remember the specific source, so don’t crucifix me for that.

Student(noun) a person engaged in study; one who is devoted to learning; a learner; a pupil; a scholar; especially, one who attends a school, or who seeks knowledge from professional teachers or from books; as, the students of an academy, a college, or a university; a medical student; a hard student.

Here are the points I think I like on a good student:

Positive Attitude
Listens
They follow instructions
Seeks improvement
Acepts teacher’s critics
Team player
Always shows up
They’re Involved

Personally I think drills and repetitions are so boring, but they are so crucial for our performance and capoeira game, if we don’t practice the drills then that can lead to bad performance in the capoeira game, including lack of distance, lack of timing and lack of good form. Drills and repetitions can help us improve in many aspects in our capoeira journey, including partner and music practice!… We are living the Internet era, where we get information in a matter of seconds, but when it comes to physical activities we want the same results and sometimes it gets us frustrated because we want results NOW!!… But we (including myself) can’t forget that practice is what capoeira is about. Here are just a few points I mentioned in this episode. What drills do you like to practice more?
