110 I Got Interviewed In My Own Show. Ft. Instra. Folha Saca and Caju – Part II

Listen to this episode where I explained how I learn from the roda.

Learning from the roda is such an awesome experience for all of us Capoeiristas, we can learn from watching or playing. I love analyzing other’s games to see how I can apply their ways to my own Capoeira game, engaging in the Capoeira game and getting to understand how it works can be very complex (but not hard) to understand, we just gotta watch a lot of games, and know what to look for. Every game is going to be different and we are not always attacking or in the famous phrase “boca de espera”.

What do I look for when I’m watching a Capoeira game?. I am looking for opportunities, I am looking at timing, directions or angles, when and how I can apply what I know in that game. This is not something that applies to every single game, but once you start looking for those details, you can understand how and where to get out in different scenarios.

Any question about the Capoeira game??… Hit me up with your questions, I will be very happy to help!!

Much love, Inst. Caxixi

109 I Got Interviewed In My Own Show. Ft. Instra. Folha Seca and Caju.

For the first time ever, I got interviewed in my own show!!, I was never expecting to get this interviewed a have a couple of friends curious about my own Capoeira journey.

It’s super cool to look back a tap a little bit into all the experiences that I have had a presence the last 20 years in Capoeira.

In this conversation my friend Instra. Folha Seca and Caju made me amazing questions, bringing me back to the very beginning, they ask about my first experiences with Capoeira, what I miss the most from my old Capoeira community in Venezuela, and so many awesome topics that I was not expecting at all!!!

108 Sacrifices Get Us Where We Want to Be

Anything we want to accomplish in life we are going to need to make sacrifices, even if we break it down we are making sacrifices every single day, we are just don’t see them consciously.

Normally we only see the results of the sacrifices, but we don’t really know what others had to sacrifices for them to be there and obtained the results we see. There are many successful people (whatever success means to you) that all I see is people saying how lucky they were to be where they are or just criticize them for the amount of success they have achieved. We all just see the result of the hard work today!

I have been sacrificing so many things not just for Capoeira, but also outside of Capoeira too, I had to sacrifice a lot of stuff for me to be able to be where I am today. It has been 20 years of many sacrifices for Capoeira for me to love, and feel really passionate about this, to the point that I wanted to make this podcast to share that passion with the world.

107 The Real Capoeira Is In The People. Ft. Graduado Arrepiado

It makes me so happy to get to know more friends in the Capoeira community, and get to support them by traveling to their events, bring some students with me, and bring energy to those rodas!!

In this episode I had the awesome pleasure to interview my friend Graduado Arrepiado (@capoeira.nago.mke/@danielinmke) where we talk about his journey from the very beginning in France all the way till now, we also talked about the new mentality of the newer generation of Capoeiristas that are breaking the old thinking of group rivalry, and are coming together to PLAY CAPOEIRA!!

In the same way, when I started Capoeira, there was a pretty dominant rivalry between our old Instructors and the Instructors and teachers from another group, but we, the newer generation broke that cycle and started to make a big difference in our Capoeira community!!

Listen more to this awesome episode Apple Podcast, Spotify, and all podcast platforms that you know!!!

Let’s make the difference TOGETHER!!

106 Lean Into What is Not Natural For You. Ft. Instra. Folha Seca

Sometimes to grow in Capoeira we need to practice where we are uncomfortable, even including traveling and supporting and connecting with our community. This was part of my conversation with my Friend Instra. Folha Seca.

During our conversation we also talked about their awesome idea of having a batizado on a Farm (you can watch the vlog of my trips to Madison, WI on my YouTube channel), coming up with creative ways to make events happen is our job as a teacher and provide that place for our students.
